Established by early Tennessee pioneer Samuel Newell, Newell's Stations was the site of the first court of Sevier County. Trundles Crossroads was officially changed to Seymour in honor of the chief engineer of the Knoxville, Sevierville & Eastern Railway upon completion of the train station on December 18, 1909.
